Peplum x 5 Ways

This fall, fashion is bringing peplum back! Peplum is a top that extends into a skirt-like fabric just above the hips. (Did you know that the word peplum meant "tunic" in Greek? Very cool.)

There are many fashion trends that are making a comeback, but to be honest, I have no problem with that (as long as they don't bring back tye-dye or neon spandex shorts...hmmm wait I think that happened already.). I am a fan of consigned and vintage clothing, and I couldn't be more happy to celebrating classic styles of the last century by incorporating it into modern day street fashion.

This striped peplum top is amongst one of my recent (and most satisfying) purchases from Egocloset. Ego Closet provides eccentric and affordable styles unique from your typical chain retail stores. If you want to be ahead of the game and find items that set you apart from the rest of the crowd, this is the place to go. It was my first time purchasing from this store and my package arrived within 2 business days! They have an online boutique as well as a store in Gastown. The fabric of the peplum top is soft which means that the shape was not super exaggerated and is appropriate for casual settings as well as formal occasions. There is also a black bow in the front of the waistline - extra points for cuteness!

Black "Magic"  - This is easy to pull off since black works with EVERYTHING! Here I paired it with black "magic" pants from Aritzia and cute peep toe tie-up pumps from Nine West.I pinned a flower on the shirt to give it an extra pzazz =)

Red is the New Black - Dare I say coloured denim is the new black? The pop of colour with some funky jewelry makes this a fun, quirky outfit with some personality. Also loving the new glasses necklace from Brandy Melville :)

The Party Dress - Bright pink bubble skirt and polka dot tights.

Friday Uniform - A cropped torquoise top + jeans. Casual but shows off the cute pleats! Any cropped top or cardigan would also work well with the high-waisted peplum top to accentuate the shape.

Modern Day Flapper - Sequined shorts +sequined headband for a vintage look.

*Other restyles to try are: long skirts for an elongated sillhouette, vest for layers and leather leggings for a rocker chic feel. Oh the possibilities!

The fun thing about restyling is that you can lose yourself in the creative freedom and ideas just keep coming! I only had time to photograph 5 outfits this time, but if I could, this could become peplum x 10 ways or peplum x 999 ways! The possibilities are endless and it's really all about making the most out of what you have.

What would YOU wear with this?
